Sean Layh is a figurative painter whose large-scale, multi-figure compositions explore dramatic narratives drawn from classical Western literature and theatre.

In 2026 Sean's paintings '“Antigone” and “Icarus Fallen” won the prestigious Best in Show and first place in the Figurative category respectively in the 18th Art Renewal Centre's (ARC) SALON COMPETITION.

From 2023 to 2025, Sean has won multiple awards in the Portrait Society of America’s INTERNATIONAL Competition. In November 2025, Sean’s painting “Icarus Fallen” won first place in the Best Figurative Work category in the Almenara international painting competition in Córdoba, Spain.

2025 also saw Sean’s narrative epic “Oedipus at Colonus” selected and exhibited as a finalist in the European Museum of Modern Art’s (MEAM) esteemed FIGURATIVAS in Barcelona.

This July, Sean's painting “Antigone” will be on display at Sotheby's in New York.
