Sean Layh is a figurative painter whose large-scale, multi-figure compositions explore timeless narratives drawn from classical Western literature and theatre.

From 2023 to 2025, Sean has won multiple awards in the Portrait Society of America’s INTERNATIONAL Competition. In November 2025, Sean’s painting Icarus Fallen won 1 st place in the Best Figurative Work category in the Almenara international painting competition in Córdoba, Spain.

Sean’s narrative epic Oedipus at Colonus was also selected as a finalist in the European Museum of Modern Art’s (MEAM) esteemed FIGURATIVAS competition and will be on view at the museum from October through January 11th 2026.

His paintings have been exhibited internationally, including at the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona and Arcadia Contemporary in New York.
